sicko pyromanic, daddy's princess, bitch first class, misunderstood, tons of issues

Manuela has always been a storm, bound in human form. As a baby, her parents had a rough time coping with her, which only got worse as she grew older. She was very stubborn, wanting everything to go the way she wanted things to go, bossing kids her age around if she had the chance. She broke her toys, refused to eat things she didn’t like, and was very picky with pretty much everything. Her parents were always negotiating with her, since that seemed to be the only way to properly deal with her. Manuela was a smart girl, knowing how to get the things she wanted early on in her life. She also was spoiled by her parents for this exact reason. And there simply was something different with her. She was different from the other kids. Yet nobody ever seemed to be able to put a finger on it.

As she became a youngster, her fascination with certain things started to develop. She liked things that were out of the ordinary. Other girls would scream if they saw little spiders crawling around, yet Manuela embraced these kinds of odd creatures, finding that they had more purpose in life than some humans ever would. She would sometimes keep them as pets until they died from starvation, and then she would find herself something new to play with. Around this time, she started to be drawn towards fire. Manuela had always been a little reckless with things, and she just had the unexplainable urge to touch the flames. She did so a couple of times, very briefly, only slightly burning her fingertips. She just couldn’t help herself.

It started as an accident, just some innocent playing around with a candle, but when she was around the age of fourteen she set her bedroom on fire. It was only a small fire, quickly taken care of by her father, but it was after this point Manuela found out how big the relief of setting things on fire actually was. The licking flames eating everything in its way fascinated her, calmed her down as she watched it.

If you take a close look at her personality, you can conclude that Manuela has an impulse control disorder named pyromania. Setting things on fire, touching fire, everything that has to do with fire calms her conflicted mind down. It is simply her way of coping with stress and emotions.

A mí la muerte me pela los dientes.
Death can’t do anything to me - a literal translation of this Mexican saying. This was what her mother used to say, and it must have been one of Manuela’s favorite sentences in her lifetime. She always found this statement so strong, as most people were scared of death, and anything that had to do with death. People had phobias for pretty much everything that could harm or even kill a person, and there were people that were so afraid they even developed phobias for things that weren’t even close to a threat. Manuela never understood those people, as she didn’t feel any fear. Not when a spider once crawled over her hand, not when she burned her fingers on the stove when she was three, and not when she found herself in a tricky situation with some vengeful boys while she was waiting for her driver after school. Manuela always followed the example of her mother. Death can’t do anything to me, she repeated in her head. And if it can’t do anything to me, there’s nothing to be afraid about.

Her parents knew from the very beginning that Manuela was different from other children. She was interested in things no other children actively had an interest for. Her biggest obsession must have been fire. However, her parents never diagnosed her, which might have been a mistake on their behalf, as she could’ve used the help as a child. They were afraid to face the truth, the truth that something was mentally wrong with their beautiful daughter. Her father never denied it, but her mother liked to coddle her a little bit every so often. She one day managed to set her room aflame, after which she managed to get burned herself pretty severely too. The scars of this can still be found scattered over her body.

Manuela brought a child into the world at quite a young age. The little girl had been in an accident, but she and the father tried to make things work for as good as they could. Her own father helped along too, offering them anything they needed. He bought them a place to live, as he had quite some millions of savings within reach, and made sure he supported them mentally. This wasn’t enough for a young mother who wasn’t mentally in the right place herself. She started to lose the connection with her daughter, and when the father of her child decided to stop showing up too, she entirely lost that ‘mothery feeling’ people always talk about.

Nowadays, the bond with her daughter still isn’t strong. Her daughter is old enough to go to college already, and she seems to be avoiding her mother as well.
