"IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS"

A pleasant buzz was going through the club. Dax was manning the bar with a few other employees, just enjoying the sights. It was a good evening for Club 369. Money was flowing and there were enough people around to keep that money flow going. But most of all, the people around seemed to be having fun. His blue eyes wandered over to the next customer, a young woman who was a student in psychology apparently. Making him chuckle. Filling up the little shot glasses she had brought back. Nodding to her when she was collecting the little glasses. Making him give her a tray. Since it most certainly would be a loss if they dropped to the ground. Shooting her a charming smile, watching her leave soon enough as the heavy beats pounded through the club.

In the corner of his eye spotting a situation a bit further from the bar. Making him frown. Great. Dax briefly leaned closer to someone, telling them to get one of the bouncers. This wasn’t something  that he would let blow up, not tonight at least. So he stepped out from behind the bar, walking in the general direction of where something seemed to be going down. Taking a deep breath, yes this was just plain annoying frankly. ’What’s going on here?’

A few of his friends had convinced him to join to Club 369. The venue was one of London’s most famous and popular spots for clubbing. Everyone seemed to love this place. Everyone except Oliver. The music here was too loud and repetitive to his liking. Also, it was so crowded that it was almost impossible to move around freely without bumping into people. The temperature was very likely to rise here to a point where you will be drenched in sweat even when you didn’t participate on the dancefloor. He definitely preferred any other place over this one here. Yet, he stood here, glass in his hand and leaning against the wall, observing all those that, for whatever reason, actually did seem to enjoy this place.

Oliver wanted to take another sip from his watery cocktail, but before his lips could reach the glass some bloke knocked it out of his hands. ”What the fuck,” he said, his voice clearly agitated. His newly bought shirt was now completely soaked by the contents of his drink. The culprit, however, seemed to be rather indifferent about the whole situation and stood there shrugging. When he was about to continue his way, Oliver grabbed his shoulder to make sure he would not leave him here without even giving him a proper apology. But instead of turning around and expressing any form of regret towards him, Oliver felt how the guy’s fist slammed against his face. For a second, Oliver stood there trying to process what just had happened, but soon enough he clenched his fists and tried to strike back. He hit something or someone but had no idea whether it was actually the guy he was aiming for or perhaps someone else that had to endure the blow. What he did know was that by now the little tumult had been noticed since a man came up to them, inquiring what was going on. ”He hit me,” he defended himself. Oliver tried to point at the guy, but suddenly he was nowhere to be seen.

Dax was quite unsure to what had actually happened to cause such a scene. But he needed answer pronto. There was no doubt in his mind that someone had thrown the first punch and that person would be booted out instantly. Because that was one of the things he didn’t accept in a club like his. That and drugs being sold on the premises. He couldn’t care less if people indulged in them, as long as it wasn’t happening in his field of vision or they weren’t actually dealing inside the club. That would cause a whole load of unwanted attention he simply couldn’t afford. A fight breaking out on the other hand, listen he got it. He had been young once too. Sometimes tempers just flared up, though he’d rather have them taking the whole thing outside. No need to spoil other people their night right?

Dax caught the fist of the other going over his shoulder making him hum. Looking at the guy who threw it in the first place. But he simply shrugged it off. Looking at the other one that was being pointed as the guilty one. Though the other was no where to be scene and well, that certainly made things a bit more difficult for sure. ’Well, since you don’t go around punching yourself I could let this one slip. Can I offer you a new drink on the house?’ The least he could do, since the shirt of the other was completely soaked with whatever it was. He would find out who it was that threw the first punch through footage on a later point that evening. But for now, improving this guy his experience here.

Oliver had no idea what was happening. One second he was about to have a decent fight with someone, the next one this person seemed to have disappeared in thin air. Slightly dazed by what just had happened, Oliver tried to scan the crowd, but the guy was nowhere to be seen. Instead, this man, who had a very serious look on his face, came up to him and started asking about the situation. Fortunately, he appeared to be less serious than Oliver expected when tried to put the blame on no one in particular. ”If it actually contains some liquor, yes,” Oliver eventually answered, bitterness in his voice. He wondered who this guy was, but judging from his looks and his arrogance he must be some kind of manager here.

Maybe Dax was making a mistake here. But for once he chose to doubt his own ways. On other occasions he would’ve already thrown out both, yet right now the second guy was no where to be seen. And well, he wasn’t going to blame the other one alone. So, maybe he could actually mend those wounds with a decent drink. It was the least he could do after the other one had lost his drink a moment ago. And since no one here should go without a drink he certainly didn’t doubt that the other guy would accept a free drink.

The comment briefly made him raise a brow. ’Not up to your standards?’ Dax calmly stated as he nodded towards the bar. Already moving over there. This time placing himself behind the bar and waiting for the other one to eventually join. ’What’s your poison?’ He raised a brow, not quite sure what the other his drink of choice would be. But well, hopefully he was a bit more forthcoming about that.

The night did not go exactly as planned. Not only did he end up in his least favorite club, but he also managed to end up in some kind of quarrel. Now he was left with an empty glass and a face that coloured red from the blow. At least there seemed to be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel since he was offered a drink from the house. Oliver pointed out that he was fine with having a drink if it was not as watery as the ones he had before. The man, that was supposedly the manager here, raised a brow, wondering about the standards that he had. ”I know these are hard times, but there is no need to fill up a glass almost entirely with ice,” he explained, hoping that the guy would do something with the feedback that was given to him. Oliver followed him to the bar and heard how he was asked about his poison. ”A LIIT if possible, thank you,” he answered, trying to look at everything but the guy.
