While Oscar has Latin-American roots, one might not be able to tell his heritage from his appearance. He has dark brown, medium-length hair and light-coloured eyes, which are either green on brown depending on whom you ask. Most of the time, he has some stubble or a full beard. On occasion, when someone tells him to shave, he gets rid of all of it, though. For a man his age, Oscar is in great shape. He is pretty buff, because he spends a lot of his free time climbing and bouldering.

When it comes to clothing, Oscar is your typical professor. He wears mostly earthy tones, ranging from browns to greys to greens. When he’s feeling particularly daring, he might mix in a pattern. He likes woolly sweaters and soft fabrics, dress shirts, and blazers. Oscar also quite likes wearing suits, although he feels that it’s a little too formal for class most of the time.

Oscar has a pretty soft voice, which has a raspy quality to it. While difficult to hear at times (not the greatest quality for a university professor), most people consider the sound of his voice to be quite pleasant. His demeanor is usually calm, if not a bit uncertain or even anxious. To someone meeting him for the first time, he can come across as a little aloof or disinterested, but this is usually not the case at all. He tends to be a little socially awkward, which people can perceive as distant instead.

Oscar is very clearly an introvert. He does not particularly like being around people, more so because he is overly concerned with making a good impression than he is bothered by their presence. Fundamentally, he is quite anxious, which is a quality that tends to seep through into every domain of his life. Nowadays, however, he does have some control over his tendency to be overly concerned. He is soft-spoken, caring, kind, and protective. He feels responsible for other people’s well-being, even if they do not expect him to do so at all. Oscar can be quite intimate in relationships, since he tends to really focus on one person in particular. He can be very thoughtful if he wants to be, but can also be easily hurt if this attentiveness isn’t returned.

Oscar was born as the one and only son of Roberto and Meredith Sandoval, a Venezuelan father and a British mother. He was raised speaking both English and Spanish, so he speaks both languages fluently. His mother owned an employment agency of her own until her retirement, and his father was a real estate agent. While Oscar loves his parents dearly, his relationship with them was complicated at times. He idolized them to some degree, but always felt a little bit misunderstood by them. His father was a very masculine man, which frequently clashed with Oscar’s warmer and more pro-social personality.

Despite all of that, he had a stable and pleasant childhood. He did well in school. While he did not have an abundance of friends, Oscar always had one or two people he could fall back on. He had never been in a relationship until meeting his future wife in his late teens. They started dating briefly after finishing high school and have been together ever since. Both of them progressed onwards to university, where Oscar tried balancing studying history and philosophy. This worked out for him, and he graduated summa cum laude. Afterwards, he also finished his graduate degree in philosophy.

For a while, he tried his hand at writing. But Oscar had always been an overthinker, so the book came very slowly, and bills needed to be paid. Feeling guilty for relying on his wife so much, he decided to put his book on the backburner and apply for a PhD. He got the position and spent the next few years writing, teaching, and doing research. Surprised to find out that he quite liked standing in front of a large crowd while speaking about ethics, Oscar accidentally remained a professor at Queen’s College London ever since.

Lucía and he had two daughters together named Cara and Louisa. While their marriage had always been stable, Lucía eventually found out something about her husband that he had not even known himself. The two started fighting, although they made sure not to have the children be part of it at all times. Oscar full-heartedly denied every claim his wife made, but she grew weary of his refusal to see the truth and the pair eventually separated. The children reside with Lucía, but Oscar still sees them very often.

Two years later, Oscar met someone new. A woman named Manuela Carrasco. While the beginning of their relationship started out relatively slowly, he eventually decided that this was something worth pursuing. Eventually, the couple ended up getting married and had a child together. They still live together in London to this day, raising their new-born baby boy.
